Football club Sheriff :: Sports Complex “Sheriff”

The construction of the “Sheriff” sports complex began at the western outskirts of Tiraspol on August 1, 2000. The company management decided to create a base for professional football development, which would let football clubs have not only training sessions and preparations, but also carry out international football tournaments at high level.

The main football arena started functioning in July, 2002. The UEFA inspector Mr. Vertongen, who inspected the complex on the eve of a qualifying match of the Champions League, estimated the quality of the stadium as excellent.

Later in August, 2002, FIFA President Mr. J. Blatter visited the sport complex and highly estimated the object being built.

The territory of the complex is more than 40 hectares, apart from the Main football arena it also includes: the Small arena, 8 training fields, the covered stadium, dwelling complex for “Sheriff” players, 5-star hotel, football college for children.

Many foreign companies took part when building the complex, including “FieldTurf” from Canada (artificial turf), Swiss “Motomatic” (drainage, irrigation, natural turf); leading European companies supplied lighting and public address systems.

The Main Arena

This modern football stadium for 13.000 seats received spectators for the first time in July, 2002. It was planned and built according to UEFA technical recommendations. The stadium is equipped with individual collapsible seats. All stands are roofed to protect spectators from bad weather. The floodlighting of the playing field is carried out from the roof of the western and eastern stands and operates in 4 modes of 400, 800, 1200 and 1600 lux. The stadium is equipped with the TV-live broadcasting system. The colorful giant video screen with a whole area of 40 square meters is mounted at the stadium.

Dressing rooms for home and visiting teams are able to receive up to 30 persons each, they are equipped according to the UEFA requirements. For both teams there are inside halls for warm-up near the dressing rooms. The turf in the halls is made of artificial materials of the last generation and produced by “FieldTurf”.

The playing field with the size of 105x68 is made of natural grass turf. The field is equipped with effective drainage system, automatic irrigating system and underground heating system which gives a possibility to prepare the turf to the proper state for any match day during an autumn-winter period.

The security and safety measures are observed inside the stadium as well as outside it.

The Small Arena

The small sport arena started functioning in September, 2002. This stadium is for 8.000 seats with 6 running-tracks and football field of 105x68 m size. The playing pitch is made of artificial turf of the third generation produced by “FieldTurf” company and it is equipped with a powerful drainage system. It allows to play in any season of a year.
The floodlighting comes from towers of 50 m height and operates in 4 modes – 400, 800, 1200 and 1600 lux. The colorful giant video screen is mounted there. The stadium is equipped with the TV-live broadcasting system. As well there are modern dressing-rooms for players and referees (including female referees), meeting the UEFA requirements.

Training fields

There are 8 training fields including 4 with natural grass and automatic irrigating system and 3 with artificial turf from “FieldTurf” and 1 training field with the combined surface. These fields are equipped with the powerful drainage system and floodlighting of 400 lux. The existing artificial turf fields give an opportunity not to break the training session even during the winter period.

In-door football hall and dwelling complex of FC “Sheriff”

The covered stadium adjoining the dwelling complex for players and coaches of FC “Sheriff” is capable of receiving 3500 spectators. This fully roofed, heatable hall allows to play football games during autumn-winter period.

The hall is equipped with the adjustable lighting system as well as with the sound system allowing high quality of sound perception at any point of the field. The playing field is made of artificial turf of the last generation by “FieldTurf” with the size of 105x68 m. The colorful giant video screen is mounted inside. Apart from the football field, there is the playing hall for mini-football, volleyball, basketball and handball tournaments. The dressing-rooms of the hall are capable of receiving 4 teams.
