Nigerian defender of our club Kennedy Chinwo has been called out by the National Association of his country for participating in the qualifying match of the Olympic Games-2008. The match against the team of South Africa is planned on 26 March in the city of Abuja, Nigeria.

 

The National Team of Nigeria has a good real chance to get to the Olympiad in Beijing that starts on August 8. In the second qualifying round of the African zone the Nigerians defeated the team of Equatorial Guinea by the score 5-0. The fate of the ticket for the Olympiad will be decided just in the coming match. In group “A” of the third qualifying round Nigeria defeated Ghana by the score 3-2, their next match ended in the draw 0-0, and the match against South Africa ended in the draw 1-1. Before the match against the future host country to the World Championship, the team of Kennedy Chinwo has 5 points that is two less than Ghana gained. So, winning will allow the defender of FC “Sheriff” to become a participant of the Olympiad in Beijing.

 

At present, the participants of the Olympic Football Tournament in Beijing are the teams from Australia, Japan, South Korea, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Argentina, Brazil and China.
