FC “Zenit” Saint-Petersburg, which is the first opponent of FC “Sheriff” Tiraspol in the Commonwealth Champions Cup – 2008, will not be represented by its first team in the tournament. The current champion of Russia puts forward its second line-up.

 

The first team of “Zenit” is on vacation until the 10^th of January and already on 15 January they go to United Arab Emirates for conducting two week training preparations.

 

“Commonwealth Champions Cup of CIS and Baltic States 2008” starts on January 19. For the first time the tournament will take place in the city of Saint-Petersburg and not in Moscow.

 

The opponents of FC “Sheriff” Tiraspol in Group A are “Zenit” (Russia), “Ashkhabad” (Turkmenistan) and “Levadia” (Estonia).

 

At the moment the players and administrative-coaching staff of FC “Sheriff” are on their vacation until January 3, after that the preparation for the matches in Saint-Petersburg will begin.           

 

Let’s remind that FC “Sheriff” Tiraspol won the Commonwealth Champions Cup in 2003.
