Nikolay Minchev: “They were stronger so they won”
Echo of the match “Sheriff” – “Dacia”
/ 01 April
By Dina Koroleva

The central match of the 24th leg of Moldova Championship in National Division is widely discussed. That’s how the participants of that match have commented it:

Stanislav Namasco (keeper of FC “Sheriff”):

- It was our day. We played better and that was obvious. We created more goal-scoring opportunities while “Dacia” practically had only one which was realized. Well, before the match it was said they (“Dacia”) were Champions but we proved that was not the case.

- How can you comment the situation with the conceded goal? Didn’t you expect the shot?

- Maybe. There was the forward between two defenders. But I wouldn’t recall it. We won the match and bad luck was forgotten.

- “Sheriff” hasn’t got so many cards for a long time. How can you explain such number of cards shown in one match?

- It was the fight for the leadership in the Championship, so the game was expected to be hard. The only thing I did not agree was sending Arbanas off the field. In my opinion, it was unjust.

Igor Picusciac (forward of FC “Sheriff”):

- I think “Dacia” needed points as well. But we needed points much more because it was decided who would be on the first place. It seems to me those won who desired to win.

- Your team created many goal-scoring opportunities but realized a little…

- Well, it was only concatenation of circumstances. But we scored two goals and won.

Constantin Arbanas (midfielder of FC “Sheriff”):

- The match was difficult. We waited it for a long time. It seemed all Moldova came to support “Dacia”. All was against us but we won. We defeated the team which had great confidence in its winning and was going to beat us easily because, in their opinion, our team was not a Brazilian team. But we proved to them we were able to win even in minority. I read many interviews with “Dacia” players before the match. Perhaps, they underestimated us, didn’t they? In any event, we were in the mood for the game and won by the score 2-1 in spite of the fact that all Moldova supported them.

- Did you take offence at the referee?

- Did I take offence? (in astonishment). You could see how many yellow cards we got. For the first time in my life I saw that a yellow card could be shown in the situation when a player was kicking the ball to the centre of the field. I don’t understand it.

Nikolay Minchev (defender of FC “Dacia”):

- Matches against “Sheriff” have always been hard. They were stronger so they won. I think we should work more to defeat them.

- How do you estimate the game in whole? Are you satisfied with the play of your team?

- We didn’t realize all playing sets we planned. But many of them were fulfilled, so the game was worthy and, in my opinion, “Dacia” showed the good play.

Alexander Erokhin (midfielder of FC “Sheriff”):

- I think “Sheriff” deserved this victory. We prepared for the match against “Dacia” and fulfilled all tasks set by our head coach both in the defense and in the attack. As a result, we won 2-1. I think the score corresponds to the play.

- In what components of the game did “Sheriff” manage to overplay “Dacia”?

- Tactically we played better in all components – in defense, in attack, in passes. Of course, we didn’t make good use of all moments, I had the one myself. But it’s a game.

Dmitry Gushila (forward of FC “Dacia”):

- I think it was the good game. We played against “Sheriff” in a worthy manner. We tried and did all our best to show a good football. In my opinion, everybody liked that match. Neither team deserved to be beaten today. The draw would be an ideal result.

- Did you know that 11 buses with fans would come to support your team?

- We knew our fans were going to come but we didn’t expect 11 buses. We prepared for the match as for other games.

- How is it played when so big audience is attracted?

- Well, it is always pleasant. Everybody likes playing when a stadium is full of supporters encouraging teams.
