The seventh time in a row
/ 03 May
FC “Sheriff” from Tiraspol, the leader of Moldova Football Championship, ensures its victory in the national championship ahead of schedule. After winning the away match by score 1:0 against “Nistru” from Ataki – the third club in the league table remaining behind the leader for 25 points – “Sheriff” becomes out-of-reach for the next pursuer – “Zimbru” from Chisinau.

Even with maximum of points gained for 5 legs remaining to the end of the championship and provided that “Sheriff” would be beaten in all remained matches, the club from Chisinau will not be able to pass ahead of them.

As club press-officer Miroslav Primovici told “New Region”, “the seventh champion title will become the record in the history of Moldavian football, but only then, when the team is awarded with champion medals”.

“Now “Sheriff” has 79 points, nearest rival “Zimbru” – 62, at that we are close to break records established by “Zimbru” according to the points and wins gained through the season”, - said Primovici.

Commenting on the failure in the semifinal of Moldova Cup competitions where “Sheriff” couldn’t overcome resistance of the team from Chisinau, he noted that “this is just a misfire as sometimes happens”.

But for all that he is not inclined to believe that the next home match on 5 May against “Zimbru” should become a peculiar revenge. “We are not the revanchist team but, undoubtedly, we will play for a victory since one more record is outlined – no defeats through the season”, - Primovici emphasizes.

In the last season FC “Sheriff” already broke the record in winning trophies which amount to 15 and 2 more can be added to them in this season including Moldova Super Cup.

In summer our Club will represent Moldova in the Champions League. In April, 2007, the Club from Tiraspol celebrated its 10th anniversary.
