Echo of the 2006/2007 season
/ 29 May
The Pridnestrovian Club won the 7th champion title in a row, without defeats at all. From 36 games of the football championship, “Sheriff” from Tiraspol won 28 matches having gained the record number of points – 92. The Pridnestrovian Club stumbled only over 8 matches which ended in a draw that was estimated as a victory for their rivals. With respect to overall results of the Moldova Championship the Club from Tiraspol had the most effective attacks – 70 goals scored – and the best defence – 7 goals conceded only.

- You should ask the teams which played against “Sheriff” – “Zimbru”, “Nistru”, “Olympia”, “Dacia” - why they gave the club from Tiraspol such odds, - said President of Football Federation of Moldova Mr. Pavel Chebanu.

The achievement set by the team from Tiraspol neither has analogs in Moldavian nor European football. Very few teams have managed not to be beaten through a whole championship. Scrupulous statisticians calculated that. In two last championships of Moldova “Sheriff” was beaten only once – in the match against “Tiligul” in March, 2006.

- Frankly, still before the championship almost everyone has expected that “Sheriff” will become the champion. Really, the club has a very good squad and financial resources. But nobody has thought there will be such a big difference between the first and second teams of the tournaments. It is clear they can not simply be beaten, for no particular reason, although somebody has said that “Sheriff” is a member of the same “family” along with some teams and so could give them points. At all times both on the left and right banks of Dniestr-river they try to involve us in politics. Nevertheless, the championship showed that everything was honest, - President of Football Federation of Moldova Mr. Pavel Chebanu says.

Along with the record established, “Sheriff” won gold medals of Moldova championship for the 7th time in a row. And Aliaksei Kuchuk, the striker of the club, with his 17 goals scored won the title of the best scorer of the tournament for the second year on end. That was exemplary.
