Thierry Nevers: «The most important thing is to win and help the team»
FC "Sheriff" newcomer, Thierry Nevers, shared his thoughts about the last training camp in Turkey, the future and the issue of scoring goals:
- Thierry, you together with Tyler Reid are the first Englishmen in Moldovan soccer. How did you take the invitation?
- The invitation was given to me by my agent. And I am very grateful to all the people who helped me to come here.
- What was known about the club before making the decision?
- I had heard about FC Sheriff before thanks to their fantastic victory against Real Madrid. I also saw their match against Manchester United. My agent explained to me the philosophy of the club and what it will give to a young player like me.
- Tell us about the preparation stage, the training camp in Turkey. How did you get this first period in the team?
- The training camp in Turkey was hard, but we learned a lot. We learn to play together, we learn to understand the coaching staff. They help us to become the best version of ourselves every day on and off the field.
- An important factor for a striker's game is scoring goals. You failed to score in the friendlies. Is there an explanation for this?
- Of course, it is important to score. I didn`t score, but I`m not worried about it. The most important thing is to win and help the team. We will do everything possible to win the championship and cups as a team and it does not matter who scores. I will score and give goal assists.
- Before that you played only for youth and junior teams.Maybe the problem is the transition to adult soccer?
- I played already "adult" soccer last season, but it was a lower division of England.Anyway, I believe in myself and there won't be any problems if I work hard and listen. I got into a good team and I believe my partners will help me.
- Your "West Ham" won the Conference League last year.What are your expectations from the summer European Cup campaign with FC Sheriff?
- Now I do not have any expectations. We still have the second part of the Moldovan championship ahead of us.First we need to win the championship, and then think about the European Cup. I believe that we will win, we have good players and coaching staff.
- Do you have any words for the fans of the club at the beginning of your journey in the FC Sheriff shirt?
- I want to tell the fans to continue to support us, we need it very much. I thank the fans for the pleasant wishes that I received when I joined the club.I promise to give a hundred percent for the benefit of the club, the fans and myself.The period in England is over.
