The UEFA PRO coaching licenсe
14:27, 04 February 2018
The UEFA PRO coaching licenсe
In 2004, Moldova joined the UEFA Convention on mutual recognition of coach qualification that gave opportunity to our experts to work freely abroad. Now Moldavan coaches are undergoing training and passing exams to receive the corresponding licenсe on different courses. The UEFA PRO coaching licenсe will give them opportunity to manage any European team. Among those who applied for the sacred licenсe there are also Sheriff Academy coaches Andrey Korneenkov (on the picture) and Shota Makharadze.

Andrey, let’s start with the question often asked by football fans: can an ordinary person, just anyone, come to a training course at the Licensing Center? What kind of education and work experience are necessary?
Everything is not that simple as most people think. The studying process is not easy, but it reminds classroom sessions. Before to obtain the PRO licenсe, you need to study for the previous licenсes C, B, A, stage by stage. There is also one essential condition – at each stage, after you complete one level, you need to work as a coach for a while.

Shota, tell us how the training process of coaches is organized?
We study both practice and theory. We have lessons on tactics, physical training, psychology and even work with journalists. The Licensing Center runs education in modules which include a number of classes we shall attend. In general, there are 12 of them, and the Football Federation of Moldova tries to hold those modules at the international arena. The first module was held in Geneva with lots of European delegations present. Another course we had in Poland during Euro 2012. We were analysing the semi-final games of the last European Championship. Several days ago we returned from the module organized in Turkey. The coaches were divided into groups that worked at the training camps of different teams. As for me, I was chosen for FC Krylia Sovetov camp. I had an opportunity to observe how the training process was organized and carried on in preparations of the Russian team.

Andrey, how much time an expert needs to complete education beginning from Licence С to getting a PRO diploma?
After obtaining each licence following each stage some time must pass. During that time you need to apply practically all knowledge you have received in the process of studying for this licence. On the whole, to get all licences, a coach needs at least 6 years of work and study.

Shota, what is your favourite subject in the studying process?
All lessons are very important for individual growth and development. The Licensing Center and its manager Gennady Scurtul organized the studying process so that every next module could be more interesting than the previous one. All knowledge received is an invaluable experience in the sporting career of every coach.

Andrey, who teaches football to future holders of coaching licence?
Every one of us has a tutor who controls the educational process. Those are mainly teachers with big football experience both in playing and training.

Shota, will there be any innovations or changes in the training process of FC Sheriff reserve team?
Getting the licence is a key factor for an individual growth of a coach by itself. As for the changes in the training process, we have a general concept we follow. We highly appreciate and would like to thank FC Sheriff management for providing us the opportunity of self-development in our coaching career.
