Liam Hermesh: «I will give it my all»
Liam Hermesh is a new name in FC Sheriff. The young Israeli midfielder, who has experience playing for Maccabi Haifa and in the Youth Champions League, has already familiarized himself with the club's infrastructure and is ready to get to work. We spoke with him about his initial emotions and expectations.
Liam, congratulations on joining our club. How do you feel and why did you decide to continue your career here?
Thank you! I signed a contract and am very happy about it. I like the whole infrastructure here. Few clubs in Europe have such conditions for football. I chose this offer because Sheriff is a club with a rich history and great victories, and I want to be part of that success.
— You came to us from Maccabi Haifa, whom Sheriff faced in the Champions League. Even though you were on loan at the time, you must have watched that match.
— Yes, of course, I watched that game. Sheriff performed very well, showed character and proved that they are capable of competing with any opponent, despite the final score. To be honest, I watched that match not just as a spectator, but as a player. I also wanted to be there and show what I can do.
— You have experience playing in the Israeli league and cup, but you haven't played in the Champions League yet.
— That's exactly why I came here. I was told that the club's main goal is to win the championship and qualify for the European cups. I will work hard for this and believe in it until the end.
— You played in the Youth Champions League against opponents such as PSG, Juventus, and Benfica. Will this experience help you in the future?
— Absolutely. Even though it's the Youth Champions League, the level there is very high. I gained valuable experience, and I'm sure it will come in handy in the future, in Europe's main tournament. I hope that next season we'll be there and achieve success as a team.
— The competition at Maccabi must have been fierce. Do you think it will be any different at Sheriff?
— No, I don't think so. I didn't think so at my previous club either. My main task is to prove myself in training and give my all to get into the starting lineup and fight for the highest places.
— Tell us a little about your early career.
— I started in the Maccabi Haifa youth team, where I transferred from Hapoel Raanana. I spent two years there, then went on loan to Hapoel Afula, after which I returned to the club. And now I'm in Tiraspol.
— What is your football dream?
— To win as many titles and championships as possible, to play in packed stadiums and, of course, to play in the Champions League.
— What would you like to say to Sheriff fans?
— I'm Liam, and I promise to give 100% in every game. Come to our matches; your support and noise in the stands are very important to us.
