2009 is one of the most successful in the history of FC Sheriff. Probably because the year began as well as possible. The CIS and Baltic Champions Cup, which was held in Moscow, brought our team the second international title.

 

The team coached by Leonid Kuchuk proved to be mature and powerful. Our boys won all the playoff matches. And most interesting part, they all ended with a penalty shootout. The semi-final against the Tashkent Pakhtakor began as badly as possible. Already in the opening there was a curious goal. Then, at the end of the first half, Igor Karpovich and Leonid Kuchuk himself were sent-off. But difficulties only brought our boys together. As a result - revenge for the defeat in 2007 was taken.
