Georgy Georgiev: I believe we will cope with everything
Why did you become a goalkeeper?
When I was at the 2nd grade in school father took me to watch football - there played our local team. Each Saturday we went to the stadium. I liked football a lot and began to follow it. Then my favorite player was Peter Smeichel. His play made me want to become a goalkeeper.
What does it mean to you to be invited to Sheriff?
It is a great honor for me because Sheriff is the biggest club in Moldova, the club that is respected in Europe. I will try to do my best to be valuable to my team.
How does the team prepare to the new season?
We prepare as usual, we train two times a day. The head coach demands from us the style of play that will give results. I think we will be in good condition for the first game of this season - the Supercup of Moldova. I believe that we will cope with everything.
Last season you were named as the best player of the National Division. How could you achieve such result?
When a person takes his job seriously, wants to achieve many things, he will succeed at last.
Goalkeeper is the vital figure on the pitch. Could you underline your positive and negative features as a goalkeeper?
I have to work on many things. I aim to progress in every training session - only then I will become better as the goalkeeper.
What are the most valuables traits for a good goalkeeper then?
The good goalkeeper can think on the pitch and can accomodate to anything happening in the game.
You know that soon Sheriff will play in Europe. Do you have any European competitions in your career?
No, it will be for the first time.
Then what do you expect from the European competitions?
I wait for interesting matches. It is necessary to put away emotions in such games.
What will you do to help Sheriff get into the group stage of the Champions League?
I will make everything that I can.
What do you love football for?
Football is what I wanted in life. Every day I feel happiness and satisfaction from the training sessions, and this is the most important thing, when one feels pleasure from his job.
