Fernando Neto: «Every day to the max. For the team and fans»
Big interview with the newcomer of “Sheriff” - Brazilian Fernando Neto. In the summer transfer window our team was replenished with a young, but already interesting player. Brazilian midfielder Fernando Antonio da Silva Neto officially became a player of our team. The Brazilian has already made a name for himself, having scored a goal and made an effective pass in control matches. Fernando is adapting to the new club and life in Tiraspol very confidently, and he is very optimistic about the future.
We talked to the newcomer - about emotions from the transition, first successes, life path and inspiration.
- Fernando, welcome to Sheriff! What are your first impressions of the club and the team?
- My first impression is the most positive. The infrastructure here is excellent, everything is at a high level. The club provides all the conditions for a soccer player to reveal his potential. I really liked the attitude of the staff and people around me. It is really important to come to a new country, feel comfortable and focus on soccer from the very beginning.
- You have already scored a goal and an assist in the friendlies. How did you manage to adapt so quickly?
- I am very happy that I managed to score and give a goal in the shirt of “Sheriff”. I realize that this is just the beginning, just friendlies, but, with God's help, I hope that everything will be good in official games. I will try to continue to be useful to the team.
- Why did you choose Sheriff? What did you know about the club before moving there?
- To be honest, I didn't know about Sheriff before. But when the opportunity to move appeared, I started to learn more, read, watch. And I really liked what I saw. I decided that this is the door that God opened for me. I believe I didn't end up here by accident. I really want to be happy here.
- How is your adaptation in Tiraspol? Is it very different from life in Brazil or Belarus?
- Adaptation is going great. I think, even better than it was in Belarus. There are Brazilian footballers here too, it helps. And there are also very friendly people here. So far everything is going well, with God's help - I hope it will continue.
- Tell us a little about the beginning of your soccer path.
- Since childhood I loved soccer. At the age of 11 I got to a soccer school, and at 15-16 - to the academy. At the age of 17 I started playing for the youth club Nautico Kapibaribe, and things got serious there. I was able to prove myself and get into the first team. After that I played in other clubs, including “Treze” and “Gomel”.
- What have you learned from playing for Treze and Gomel? What of it do you take with you to Sheriff?
- These clubs taught me a lot. First of all, professionalism. Regardless of the level of competition, you should always give your best and be ready to give everything for the team. That's what I try to apply here.
- What position and role do you feel most comfortable playing in?
- I am closer to the position of an attacking midfielder, closer to the penalty area. I like to participate in the creation, to join the attacks, to find moments for passes and shots. This is my favorite role.
- What goals do you set for the season in Sheriff?
- I want to help the team as much as possible: to score, to give, to win. My goal is to win everything where we participate. I want to be a champion.
- You recently turned 22 years old. What are your dreams and plans for the coming years?
- Yes, I just recently turned 22, and my main dream is to build a successful career. Now I am happy to be in “Sheriff”. I want to work hard, to grow, to bring results. To be part of a strong team and win - that's my goal.
- What do you like to do outside of soccer? Do you already have favorite places in Tiraspol?
- Outside of soccer I like to read the Bible, pray, spend time with my family - with my wife and daughters. This is the most important thing for me. I am still discovering everything in Tiraspol, but I like it here very much.
- What would you like to say to our fans?
- Thank you to everyone who is already following my game. I promise - you will see my best effort every day, at every training session and match. I want to bring joy to you and the team. I am sure, with God's help, we will succeed.
