Amorildo Gjoni: «I am looking forward to the start - time to show myself»
Amarildo Gjoni has become a new player of FC Sheriff and is ready for the start of the season. A pupil of Albanian club “Vlaznia”, he went through the championships of Albania and Italy, gaining valuable playing experience in different leagues. In Albania he played for Dinamo Tirana and Elbasani, while in Italy he defended the colors of several lower division clubs.
After signing the contract Amarildo shared his thoughts about the transition to Sheriff, his goals for the season, emotions before the European Cup and the support of fans.
- Amorildo, what did you feel after signing a contract with Sheriff?
- I am very happy to become a part of such a big club as Sheriff. This is an important step in my career, and I am looking forward to the start of the season to show what I can do. I am sure, for many Albanian players the opportunity to be here is a chance to reach a new level.
- What are your goals for the upcoming season?
- My main task is to score goals and help the team to achieve maximum results. I am ambitious and believe in my abilities. My goals fully coincide with the goals of the club: to win, to win trophies and to please the fans. For the sake of this, I need to hit the opponents' goals as often as possible - I am ready for it.
- Tell us a little bit about your path in soccer. Where did it all start?
- My path in soccer started from childhood. I went through the academy of Albanian club “Vlaznia”, where I practiced until the age of 17, after which my career in Italy. There I got important game and mental experience, played many matches with strong opponents, learned a lot. Later I returned to Albania to continue my way at a new level.
- How did the stage in Italy influence you?
- It became very valuable for me. In Italy I played against experienced opponents, learned from coaches, gained both physical and tactical understanding of the game. This experience made me more mature as a player.
- How do you feel before the start of the European Cup in the “yellow-blacks”?
- I am looking forward to the start of the European Cup. Already now I feel special emotions - I want to get on the field as soon as possible and show my best side in international matches.
- What style of play is closer to you and what is your main advantage?
- I try to adapt to any style - it all depends on the philosophy of the club and the coach's decisions. My strong point is my physical data. In every match I try to finish as many attacks as possible. I am sure: this is the only way to achieve victories.
- Would you like to say something to the fans of our club?
I have heard that in Tiraspol there is a great support from the stands. For all those who are already with us - thank you very much. And for those who have not been to the stadium yet, I want to say: welcome, we need you very much.
